Class Descriptions
PREK/TOTS CLASSES

Pre- K Ballet/ Tap 3-5
This 45 min class is designed to give your child the chance to experience the fundamentals of Ballet and Tap dance in an encouraging and uplifting environment. Our Pre - k classes are designed for students of all backgrounds, levels and abilities to grow and flourish their physical and mental development, creative expression, and dance technique.

Tumbling Ninjas (3-5)
During this 45 minutes class your child will learn the fundamentals of acrobatics through a series of exciting exercises and activities! They will develop fine motor skills, coordination, agility and creativity.
​
Rhythms Boppers (3-5)
This 30 minute dance class is high energy and tons of fun! This class partners physical activity and musicality to promote coordination and creativity Your child will learn the fundamentals of hip hop while cultivating their sense of adventure and discovery.
​
Fairy Tale Dance (3-5)
This dance class provides an outlet for your student to use their imagination while learning the fundamentals of ballet!

Creative Movement (3-5)

TRADITIONAL DANCE CLASSES

Ballet
​In this class your child will learn the fundamentals of Ballet technique. They will learn terminology and movements specific to those foundational dance techniques. This class offers an uplifting environment that fosters mental and physical development, coordination and creative expression.
​
Contemporary/ Jazz
This dance class combines elements of jazz, and contemporary. Jazz dance offers a rich history of rhythm and groove while contemporary gives us the opportunity to move to convey a story or expression through fluid grounded movement. Dancers will learn the fundamentals and history of jazz and contemporary technique.
​
Hip Hop
Our hip hop classes are fun, uplifting and upbeat! This is a great class to get moving as the students develop coordination, agility, strength and musicality. A variety of hip hop styles may be taught in this class ranging from traditional street dance to urban commercial dance.
​
Tap
In this multi-level class your child will learn the percussive rhythmic art of tap dancing which is characterized by shoes that have metal taps on the ball and the heel, which assists with the art of taps rhythmic embodiment through various steps beginning to advance. A variety of tap styles may be taught in this class ranging from rhythmic tap to Broadway styles.

Modern Dance
Modern dance utilizes a variety of athletic techniques to convey stories through grounded and balanced movement. In this class dancers will learn the history of modern dance along with the development of the dance style over the decades.
​
Musical Theater
Musical Theater Class is a great stepping stone and class to take for dancers to gain tools in other genres of the theatrical arts community rather than just dance. You will learn how to couple your dancing ability’s with singing and acting. Students will have the opportunity to take on various types of characters from different time eras or cultures as they work on learning choreography to Broadway style show tunes. We will also go over some vocal and dance technique as it applies to the combinations being learned. There will also be opportunity to work on acting out a scene . Each student will be encouraged to act as their assigned character or make up greater details to define their character through their personal expression, projection, diction and character creating. Students do not need to sing solos or sing at all in they are not comfortable with that aspect, but will be encouraged to try. The emphasis on this class will primarily be theatrical dance while also exploring other areas of theater arts.

ADVANCED/BRIDGE CLASSES

Bridge Tap
In this advanced Tap class you will build on the fundamentals of tap to growth in your understanding and physical execution of Tap movements and Rhythmic difficulty. You will also learn and apply new advanced movements and concepts to further your dance education.
Bridge Ballet (must speak w/ staff for placement)
In this advanced ballet class the student will experience growth in their mental understanding and physical execution of Ballet movement and technique. They will learn and apply new advanced movements and concepts as they further their dance education.

Bridge Jazz (must speak w/ staff for placement)
In this advanced Jazz class the student will experience growth in their mental understanding and physical execution of traditional jazz movements and styles . They will also learn and apply new advanced movements and concepts as they further their dance education.
Bridge Hip Hop (must speak w/ staff for placement)
Hip hop is the genuine enacting of self expression through grounded, isolating and hard hitting movement! In this class students will be challenged to think on their feet through the development of coordination, focus, strength, musicality and agility. They will learn creative problem solving and total body connectivity through the art of hip hop. In this class we will be teaching hip hop without the use of suggestive choreography or music.

Pre- Pointe/ Pointe 12+ (must speak w/ staff for placement)
This class is designed for students with a strong foundation in ballet technique who wish to progress to pointe work. This class will incorporate a continuation of ballet training while focusing on strength building techniques to prepare a dancer for pointe. This class is also for those who are already on Pointe and wish to continue their point work training.

ACRO/AERIAL CLASSES

Acrobatics (must speak w/ staff for placement)
AcroDance is a fun and exciting way to learn various exciting tricks that can be incorporated into all forms of dance. Acrobatic Arts strives to create a safe environment for students to learn the art of acrobatics at their own pace. Students will learn how to safely perform skills in strength, flexibility, balancing, limbering, and tumbling.

Aerial Silks
Build strength, flexibility, and confidence in our dynamic aerial silk classes. Through proper and safe technique you will learn how to use the silks to create powerful and fluid movement. This is a fun way for kids and adults to get moving and stay active. No experience needed!

CROSS TRAINING CLASSES
​
Progressing Ballet Technique
Progressing Ballet Technique is a program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon to help students advance in all dance forms by training muscle memory. PBT focuses on core stability, weight placement and alignment. PBT is practiced internationally and must be taught by a certified PBT instructor.
​
Strength and Conditioning
This new class is taught by a certified strength and condition specialist. A strength and conditioning coach is a physical performance professional who uses exercise prescription to improve the performance of competitive athletes or athletic teams. This is achieved through the combination of strength training, aerobic conditioning, flexibility training and other methods. This class is recommended for dancers level 1 - advanced.

ADDITIONAL CLASSES
Worship Dance
Worship Dance is a customary practice of public worship performed by a religious group or by an individual. Liturgy represents a communal response to and participation in the sacred activity reflecting praise, thanksgiving, supplication or repentance. Praise dancing is a liturgical or spiritual dance that incorporates music and movement as a form of worship rather than as an expression of art or as entertainment. Praise dancers use their bodies to express the word and Spirit of God. We will be using different creative worship methods and techniques including hebraic worship dance and flags.

IRISH STEP DANCING
These classes give a true taste of Irish culture while exploring traditional and performance Celtic dance styles. These classes will teach both soft and hard shoe techniques. These classes are for ages 8 and up!
